SRC representatives inducted for 2026

Student Representative Council (SRC) for 2026 at Wade High School have been officially inducted in a special assembly with family and guest speaker Griffith Mayor Doug Curran.

The SRC aims to contribute to a positive school culture and strengthen the community through active participation.

Following an Acknowledgement of Country from Year 7 student Connor Simpson, SRC Coordinator Mrs Jade Lovelock started the proceedings by congratulating the 20 students inducted in 2026.

"SRC members embody our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) values of Respectful, Responsible Learners," she said.

"Students elected into the SRC will be active citizens of the school community and have their ideas sought after and respected by school staff and students.

"Students will be encouraged to contribute and participate in the decision-making processes of the school and its future direction. Wade High School prepares and supports students in their leadership and decision-making roles, both inside and outside of the classroom."

Last year, the SRC promoted and organised several successful whole-school events with members reflecting on their favourite moments.

"Last year, towards the end of Term 2, the SRC organised a State of Origin and Beanies for Brain Cancer Day where we raised awareness and funds for the Mark Hughes Foundation," Robert Nehme said.

"Students were asked to wear a beanie and blue or maroon clothes to school. We had a bake sale that was a big hit and donated $490 to the foundation."

"Week 4 of Term 3 saw us getting involved in the National Week of Action Against Bullying. This event was a week-long reminder of the importance of saying yes to kindness, respect, and creating a school where everyone feels safe and supported," Allanna King said.

"A key highlight was the Kindness Wall that we put up in the maths corridor, getting students to write a kind message to be displayed and encourage one another. We also held a bake sale, with all of the money raised donated to Dolly's Dream Foundation."

Guest speaker Griffith City Council Mayor Doug Curran spoke about the important role that school leaders, such as SRC members, play within the school in supporting other students and urged the representatives to take their responsibilities seriously.

After the formal part of the assembly, SRC members, along with guests, had morning tea in the library.
